Riley is a professional audio engineer in Nashville, TN. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology from Northern Iowa (UNI) in 2023 and moved to Tennessee to pursue a Master's in Fine Arts, focusing on Recording Arts and Technologies at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Set to graduate in May 2026, Riley works full-time as a freelance audio engineer, specializing in studio engineering, mixing, and live sound. He often works at Starstruck Studios and MTSU's school studios, which boast top-notch analog recording technology.
During the summer, Riley frequently goes on tour. In 2024-2025, he worked with Brittney Spencer as a production assistant, handling tasks like driving the van, selling merchandise, setting up the stage, and supporting tour management. He has helped with major events such as the Railbird Festival in Lexington, the Illinois 300 (NASCAR), and the US Olympic Swim Trials, just to name a few
In addition to his audio work, Riley played trumpet professionally during his undergraduate years. He managed and performed with a soul/funk group called "Back Pocket" and performed with Northern Iowa's leading ensembles. After the 2020 pandemic, Riley toured Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary) with the UNI Wind Ensemble in May 2021 as a section trumpet player. In May 2023, he toured South Africa with the UNI Jazz Band One as solo trumpet, performing 10 shows in 8 days.
